Statement of Purpose:

Defend Our Protectors exists to provide resources and support for individuals whose lives and careers are caught in the intersection between civilian law and the military justice system, and then trapped in the military’s arcane administrative processes. This is an area of need because civilian attorneys may be limited without military background – and the Army’s legal defense services do not represent soldiers involved in civilian matters nor adequately defend service members in punitive administrative processes. There are currently no other organizations in the country serving Soldiers and Veterans who are unjustly accused or unfairly sanctioned.

The work of this organization acknowledges that those who defend our country deserve the same rights that they have pledged on their lives to defend. This organization will advocate for significant and material change in how the Army Criminal Investigation Division and other Military Law Enforcement Organizations are allowed to operate.

Financial contributions to Defend Our Protectors will support outreach efforts to identify individuals in need and provide information and background to determine level of need. Defend Our Protectors may provide financial support for legal assistance to indigent individuals. The organization will also seek to build a coalition of civilian attorneys with military background to target additional areas of need.

Defend Our Protectors is project of the Colorado Non-Profit Development Center.
